Katie Boulter opens from Madrid after a blunt loss to Jasmine Paolini

The first in the UK, Katie Boulter, was eliminated by Jasmine Paolini in the second round.
The Italian ranked sixth in the world, defeating Boulter 6-1 6-2 in 61 minutes in the Spanish capital, conceded only three games.
The 2024 French Open runner-up converted six of her seven breakout points to six, setting up a final 32 draw with Greece's Maria Sakkari.
Boulter won the first WTA clay field victory of his career against Katerina Siniakova in the first round, winning just 11 points in 46 games, making 21 unmandatory mistakes overall.
The 28-year-old export means Emma Raducanu and Sonay Kartal are the only remaining British people in the WTA 1,000 event, both of which will be held late Friday.
