Josh Giddey, Bulls agree to 4-year, $100 million contract

Lighthouse Sports Management agent Daniel Moldovan told ESPN’s Shams Charania on Tuesday that restricted free agent Josh Giddey has reached a four-year, $100 million deal to re-sign with the Chicago Bulls. The deal is completely guaranteed, with no player or team options
Josh Giddey has been looking for a five-year, $150 million contract
Giddey signed a four-year, $2.721 million rookie-scale contract in August 2021. He received $6.58 million in 2023-24 and earned $8.35 million last season. Both of these salaries are the club’s choices.
The Bulls acquired Gidey in a 2024 trade deal that brought Alex Caruso to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Thunder general manager Sam Presti was simple when it came to the decision to swap Giddey to Alex Caruso. He made it clear that Gidey was willing to leave Oklahoma City for other opportunities.
“When we introduced Josh to how he leaned towards his strengths and ultimately optimized our current roster and talent, it was hard to envision him, and the conversation about him turned to him asking for potential opportunities elsewhere,” Presti said.
“Josh, as always, showed the greatest level of professionalism throughout the discussion. Josh has All-Star potential, but in the current thunder construction, it’s not the best for the collective. Based on these discussions, we decided to move on and prioritize what is best for the organization.”
Gidey’s highest average career figure last season
Giddey became the second restricted free agent to sign the deal in September after Brooklyn rebounding guard Cam Thomas signed a one-year, $6 million qualifying offer last week.
Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga and Philadelphia 76ers guard Quentin Grimes remain the only outstanding restricted free agents this summer.
