Yankees place Judge Aaron in Illinois to trade Amed Rosario

“In general, we got good news today,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters Saturday. “I think we are all worried about the worst.” The good news mentioned by Boone became official on Sunday. Yankees’ puncture Yankees put Judge Aaron on the 10-day injury list with flexor pressure on their right elbow, but no tear UCL. The judge conducted an MRI on Saturday and based on reports that Yankees believed the judge had missed only at least 10 days, it seems safe to assume that imaging only showed small pressure. He has received platelet-rich plasma injections and will not be thrown within 10 days to two weeks. Crucially, on August 13, the return at a minimum will also allow the judge to return. The Yankees also switched utility player Amed Rosario on Sunday, but we will introduce the move after talking about the judge’s news.
Concerns about the elbow appeared last Tuesday when the judge was noticed after throwing the ball into the infield. The right fielder did his best to reduce the focus and told reporters: “I have been expressing facial expressions.” He also downplayed the group’s injuries and tried to push away the MRI’s phone. “You never want to get into the tube,” he said. But he was DH on Wednesday and showed more discomfort on Friday. “The throwing was the main problem,” the judge said Saturday. “The hit was too fast, and it wasn’t really a move for anything I felt like. I think the injured muscle is the muscle to grab, so there might be some problems.” He hit the .143 with 35 WRC+ in his last nine games. This stretching move brings his best Baseball 220 WRC+ down to the best Baseball 208. New York Postthe absolute best case scenario is that the judge returns after 10 days and then only takes 10 days to return to the right scene at DH.
Here is a passage where you extract some numbers to prove how much the injured player loses, but when you talk about a player like a judge, it’s even hard to know where to start. He leads the league with 7.2 war. Only two other players are over 5.0. The six teams have not received the total of all positions of the 7.2 War! This is just the biggest loss any team can suffer. Losing a judge is also a pain in baseball. He has been one of the greatest runs of the game ever for the past four seasons, and even the best scenes have deprived him of his chance to make history. The injury suddenly ended the judge’s recent move towards 60-Homer Mark. He currently has 37 home runs and is on a 58 pace before missing Saturday’s game. Over the past four seasons, the judge has 194 home runs in 524 games, an average of 60 games per 162 games.
There is no time to lose a good time for a player like the judge, but the Yankees have lost seven of their last 11 games and 13 of their last 22 games. Our playoff odds were 85.5%, but their chances of winning the division were down to 23.7% in 5 1/2 games with the Blue Jays at Al East. That is, the Yankees have the ability to deal with outfield losses than most teams.
With the judge’s performance, the Yankees outfield consists of Jasson Domínguez on the left, Trent Grisham in the center and Cody Bellinger on the right. With 130 WRC+, Grisham spent his career in the set for a year despite his defensive metrics dropping. Bellinger is there, with 132 WRC+. Domínguez is still only 22 years old and has entered the season due to injury, with only 100 professional games. He is running 107 WRC+ and has some very ugly defensive results. That certainly is not a bad outfield. The three combined to 124 WRC+. The only outfielder who played better this season was the Cubs, who received 131 WRC+ from the outfield. When you consider defense, these three Yankees have a 6.1 war together, which will be in the top 10 of all outfields. Most teams will be happy to have this outfield. It’s just that any outfield occupied by ordinary humans (and a Martian) represents a huge step, including the judge.
The injury could open up space for 24-year-old Spencer Jones. Like a judge, Jones is 6-foot-7 and has a total of 205 WRC+ in 49 games in Triple-A this season. In just 68 games, he scored 29 ridiculous home runs in just 68 games on a strikeout rate of 31%. However, Jones has not been in the competition due to cramps since Thursday. There was a time when rumors spread out that Jones might be in the trading neighborhood, but recent rumors made the team determined to keep him. In the next few months, he will likely find the Bronx’s way one way or another.
After the judge returns, the Yankees will have a logjam on the designated batsman. Boone mentioned that he had talked to Giancarlo Stanton about the time he saw in the outfield, which was not ideal. Stanton hasn’t played out of the field at all since 2023 and hasn’t based on positive numbers for DRS or FRV since 2018. But what he’s been doing, it’s definitely rake-out, so the Yankees are willing to do their best to keep him in the roster, and the judge limits DH’s duties. Stanton missed the first two months of the season with two elbow injuries, but since his return he cut .276/.355/.520 (143 WRC+) to score seven home runs in 110 sets.
This brings us to the second film news. The Yankees continued to grow after trading third baseman Ryan McMahon on Friday, sending pitcher Clayton Beeter and outfield prospect Browm Martinez to Rosario’s Nationals. Rosario now moves by deadlines for each of the past three seasons, from Guardians to the Dodgers in 2023, arrives at the Dodgers again in 2024 (but then abandoned by the Dodgers and ends the season with the Reds), now from the Nationals to the Yankees. He came up with the Mets in 2017, looking for a little bit in future shortstops, but in the four seasons in Queens he has had a bad defense, running a total of 90 WRC+ runs. The Mets have Rosario as part of the Francisco Lindor trade ahead of the 2021 season. In recent years, he has appeared on the entire Diamond (and the entire league).
He only played 158 crickets this season, so we shouldn’t be ahead of ourselves, but with 105 WRC+, Rosario has come up with the best offensive season of his entire career, with his .357 Xwoba saying he should do better. Rosario spent almost all of his time on second and third bases this season, but he has the ability to play outfields in a pinch. While his gloves are not well-graded, the most logical guess is that he will largely be McMahon’s platoon partner in third place. Rosario has 126 wrc+ on left and right this season and 75 on right-wing, while his career figures are not far from 120 and 84. Combine it with McMahon’s split – 99ers on the right, 59 on the left-handed this season, 59 on the left-handed this season, career-to-be with 95 and 75 career scores, and you’ll get the third base position on average and should be average on average and equal. Together, this represents a massive upgrade to one of the largest holes on the roster.
There are still three days left before the trade deadline, and the Yankees don’t have to do it either. According to Brendan Kuty sportsThe Yankees hope to strengthen their bullpen, which ranks 22nd with a 4.28 ERA and 21 with a 4.15 FIP. Kuty specifically mentioned that the team has been watching the Rockies reliefist Jake Bird.
As for Washington’s return, Martinez was a lottery ticket at this time. The 18-year-old, 5-foot-10, has only 209 combined cricket appearances in the Dominican Summer League. He started an incredible start to the season, slamming .404/.507/.632 in 186 games (69 pa), but he has not been in the game since July 3. His MILB.com player Page said Nationals showed he placed him at 60 days of IL, but we are not sure about the nature of the injury; we will update this article as we learn more. Whatever the injury is, it is obviously not enough to scare the people. In case you’re wondering, Martinez was the first player in the entire database of baseball references, whose name was M on W William Kidd, who won a 4-4 match in 1890 at Hartford of the Atlantic Association and was listed as Wm. Kidd). Eric Longenhagen said this to Martinez:
Martinez is not a special tool. His superficial statistics are a satirical cartoon of his talent. This is a short, medium-framed guy with barrel skills and precocious hitting ability but limited body projection (maybe there are some imminent Chase issues, the data sample is small because he’s out). He remains the prospect of queuing in the honorary mention section of the prospect list.
Eric ranked 13th in the Yankees prospect in January. The Dodgers drafted the right-hander from Texas Tech in 2020, and then swapped him for the Yankees Joey Gallo on the 2022 deadline. After spending most of his career as a starter, Bet missed three months of shoulder injury in 2024 and recovered from a reliefist. He looks impressive in Triple-A this season, with 35% of the bats he faces with 3.10 ERA and 2.75 FIP being his biggest problem, but it looks even worse this season. His first taste of the major leagues was not going well. He made his debut in early July, scoring 3 2/3 innings against the Blue Jays and Mariners and allowed 3 runs in each game to the 14.73 era. He still has room for upside, but the volatility means he doesn’t really have a place in the Yankees, whose mitigators are expected to quit in October. Here is what Eric thinks:
Bate’s stuff is better than a standard intermediate relief device. His fastball had a big uphill ride, even with his shoulder injury hitting 99 this year, and his slider was very high in depth. This is an 86-87 mph slider with a curved spherical essentially, which performs well on Bet’s fastball. But he has been working on strikes throughout most of Bate’s career, especially in 2025, as he has walked seven hitters per nine innings since his shoulder impact. Next season will be Bate’s last choice year, and it’s unclear that he will be able to strike and create the 2026 Yankees’ Open Day bullpen to keep the option. He will have more runways with Washington, and if things are late, he might be a good late. More likely, Bet will always be a sharp-bar strike, and overall more like a fair middle reliefist.
Overall, when the Nationals sign Rosario, the Nationals are getting what they hope for. It will take years to know whether Martinez can contribute, but Bate will soon have the opportunity to be a useful piece. If he is useful enough, he may leave Washington altogether in a July not too far away.
