Prince hosts Walker Cup in 2030 – Golf News

The Prince's Will Be Stage 53road 2030 The Walker Cup between the United Kingdom and Ireland and the United States of America.

The famous venue on the glorious Kent coastline will host the Biennale competition for the first time.

Prince held the Open in 1932 (winned by Gene Sarazen) and earned the final qualification for the Open from 2018 to 2022.

Sandwich's famous link also has an outstanding history of hosting leading amateur events, including the Women's Amateur Championship in 2023.

Since 2017, Prince's has undertaken a major reconstruction plan that includes upgrading to the clubhouse and adding 27 holes.

Johnnie Cole-Hamilton, executive director of R&A Championship, said: “The Walker Cup offers elite amateur golfers the opportunity to perform on a world-class stage, and Prince’s is sure to continue this rich tradition in 2030.

“It’s a place with an impressive pedigree, from the facilities in the course to the wonderful link challenges and when playing in the competition it will be a wonderful moment.”

Prince's General Manager Rob McGuirk said: “It is an absolute honor to be invited to host the Walker Cup in 2030.

“Being one of the most respected owners of the most respected men’s amateur game in the game is a huge pride for everyone associated with Princes Golf Club.

“In the past, we worked closely with R&A and on many of the past title competitions, we look forward to continuing this relationship in the coming years to ensure a great match.”

The 2030 date of the Prince's Walker Cup will be confirmed later. The Cypress Point Club in California will hold this year’s match in September, while the 2026 match will be held in Lahinch, Ireland and the 2028 match in Bandon Dunes, Oregon.
