Jay Wright away from Villanova character from TV

Jay Wright decided to step apart from becoming a full-time TV analyst and spend more time in his executive role at Villanova University.
Jay Wright joins CBS Sports, TNT Sports in 2022
Wright was hired as a college basketball analyst by CBS Sports and TNT Sports in 2022. He was a regular season competition analyst and then moved to the studio to compete in the NCAA Championship.
On Thursday, Wright posted this statement on X:
“After three amazing years of CBS Sports and TNT Sports, I decided to take a step back from full-time broadcasting. It wasn’t easy, but it allowed me to focus on the role of the Special Assistant of President Villanova and have a great time with my family.
“Thank you so much to CBS Sports and TNT Sports Teams. They are really the best in the business. I appreciate the incredible experience and friendship. I look forward to staying in touch with them and working with them on future projects.”
Of course, Wright was appointed as the special assistant to President Villanova after retirement. In this role, he is involved in fundraising, advice and education.
Wright coaches Villanova for 21 seasons
The Hall of Fame coach spent 21 seasons in Villanova, where he led the Wildcats to two national titles (2016, 2018) and made four appearances in the final four games. His overall record for Hofstra and Villanova is 642-282 (.695).
Wright served as the Wildcats program’s ins ropes in 2001 and posted a 520-197 (.725) record in 21 seasons of helm. The 2016 Championship also included several other notable achievements.
Villanova is a school without a FBS football program since Villanova’s own championship in 1985. The Wildcats are also the first team to beat the top 10 AP teams in 31 years (Miami, Kansas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma and North Carolina).
They are also the only team since the Villanova Championship team to beat four straight No. 3 seeds in the championship game: two 1 seeds (Kansas and North Carolina), one 2 seeds (Oklahoma) and one 3 seeds (Miami).
Wright ended his coaching career as the sixth-term Big Oriental coach of the year and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on September 11, 2021.

Additionally, Rev. Peter M. Donohue, President of Villanova, and Mark Jackson, Vice President and Track and Field Director, issued this joint statement in 2022 after retirement from coaching in 2022:
“First of all, we want to express our deep gratitude to Jay Wright for his incredible leadership over Villanova’s men’s basketball over the past 21 years. He led our legendary show under class, humility and grace, which has had an indelible impact on this community. Jay’s legacy in Villanova goes beyond the scope of many awards, honors, honors and tournaments.
“He will forever be called Villanova’s most winning coach by our community, and he did it in the Wright way, coaching, developing and empowering student-athletes who are playing for whom the student-athletes they will not only get better on the basketball court, but in their personal lives. Jay taught us all the true meanings that we mean. mannertherefore, on behalf of everyone involved in Villanova basketball, we want to express an overwhelming thanks for everything he did for Villanova. ”
In March, the Wildcats fired Wright’s successor and former assistant coach Kyle Neptune and replaced him with former Maryland head coach Kevin Willard.
