Arsenal will hope to sign a new top striker this summer, with new sporting director Andrea Berta taking charge of that goal. The club's leading goal seems to have changed since he arrived, but there may be complications now entering the transfer window.
For months, Arsenal has been determined to take action for Alexander Isak, but Berta's arrival seems to have poured cold water in this pursuit – Newcastle has no plans to sell or even negotiate with any clubs of interest.
Instead, Arsenal turned its attention to Viktor Gyokeres, which Berta has set as a priority. But it seems that the CP forward feels not mutual.
Viktor Gyokeres hopes to join Real Madrid this summer
According to Defensa Central (via TeamTalk), Gyokeres is reportedly very keen to move to Real Madrid in the summer. The Swedish striker allegedly told his representatives to hold talks with the La Liga Giants to measure whether they are interested in bringing him to Santiago Bernabeu.
Real Madrid's book already has Kylian Mbappe, so it would be a surprise if they were going to make a deal for Gyokerers. The report also suggested that they are considering other options to improve their team in the summer, one of which is another Arsenal goal among Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi.
Arsenal are unlikely to be influenced by Gyokeres' alleged interest in moving to Real Madrid, and they will certainly urge plans to make him a new starting striker. While defending European champions may not compete, Chelsea and Humans may challenge them.
