Jack Flaherty upgrades 2026 player option to $20mm

Jack Flaherty There was an incredible start tonight, allowing eight runs without escaping the third inning of Tampa Bay. As a result, he may lose, but he did check out a well-known contract milestone.
This is Flaherty’s 15th start of the season. His two-year free agent deal guarantees only $10mm of the 2026 campaign, but once he starts to hit $15 this year, there is another 10mm upgrade. Flaherty has the option to quit after this season, but once winter arrives, he will now officially weigh 20mm.
It may be irrelevant. Flaherty signed for two years, 35mm guarantee, and of course would opt out. He reportedly sought a five-year deal earlier in the offseason, presumably a contract that gave him nine figures. The market failed to realize, resulting in a revised pillow contract. He made 25mm this season and hopes to swing again in a long-term trade when the 30-year-old free agent reaches free agent.
That’s still the goal. Flaherty’s second season in Detroit was inconsistent. He entered tonight’s race with an average of 4.03. After a disastrous outing, it will launch 5.00. Flaherty appears continuously. Last time in 4 2/3 he gave up seven runs in Cincinnati. These two blasts follow his best range of the year. Flaherty played six innings in each of the three games between May 27 and June 8. He allowed a combined run when recording 21 strikeouts.
Flaherty hit more than 28% of opponent batsmen. This is consistent with nearly 30% of last season. However, he has been upgrading home run issues over the past few years. The option decision is not a very fast focus, but this will be a sub-picture of his second half. Flaherty never received a qualified offer, so the Tigers opted out and he would be able to qo him.
