NHL Rumor: None of Quinn Hughes is in a hurry to make a decision about his future
Jim Biringer: “You mentioned the center position and depth after Elias Petterson. Obviously, last year Petey revolved around Petey and even went into offseason, there were a lot of trade rumors and it felt like maybe maybe it was powerless because, you know, oh yes. Are they still trying to find a center behind him or hope that Filip Chytil is also his injury history?
Rob Simpson: “Well, I think Petey Trade Talk Asinine. It’s an opportunity for local media to complain about it and say, ‘What if we trade him and he’s doing really well?’ No one will happen, who will switch to someone at his minimum who gets a $11 salary on his new contract with the Canucks?
Berlinger: “And you didn’t win the deal?”
Simpson: “No”
Berlinger: “You’re not going to win the championship because you didn’t win the JT Miller deal. Obviously, it’s not a win.”
Simpson: “No, no, it’s just ridiculous.
nhlrumors.com Note: As we recorded throughout the season at NHLRUMORS.com, the Vancouver Canucks are in turmoil. There is a lot of drama in the Pacific Northwest, not only on the ice, but also on the ice. It’s another year for Elias Pettersson. He had a problem with JT Miller before being traded to the New York Rangers. But, as recorded, the Canucks hope to improve, and the Peterson trade doesn’t help them achieve that.
NHL Rumor: All Signs Point to Elias Pettersson Stay in Vancouver
They weren’t in the center, trading a center at Pettersson put them in a challenging situation similar to their trade in Cory Schneider and then traded Roberto Luongo. The team took a while to rebound. As a management team, finding an extra piece can help you win more than three or four. If the Ganaks trade Petersson, that’s it. Not to mention, he has no market and the team has not won the deal.
Plus, keeping Quinn Hughes has to be a priority, and he is not in a hurry to make a decision. But let Pettersson and Brock Boeser together give Canucks a chance every night. Again, similar to Miller talk a few seasons ago, it was just something to talk about before he extended the deal and last year.
