Indian Wells: Jack Draper to face Novak Djokovic in fourth round while Cameron Norrie also advances

Jack Draper will continue to defend his Indian Wells title against Novak Djokovic after recording an impressive victory on Monday, while Cameron Norrie eked out a stunning third-round victory.

Britain’s No. 1 Draper defeated Argentina’s world No. 20 Francisco Cerundolo 6-1 7-5 and met 24-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic in the round of 16.

Djokovic, ranked third in the world, defeated American Alexander Kovacevic 6-4 1-6 6-4 to continue his journey.

British No. 2 Norrie also defeated sixth-seeded Australian Alex De Minaur 6-4 6-4 to advance to the fourth round.

World No. 14 Draper looked better against Cerundolo than he did in his second-round victory over Spain’s Roberto Bautista Agut.

The 24-year-old, playing his second singles match since last year’s U.S. Open after recovering from an arm injury, took the first set after breaking Serendolo three times in 32 minutes.

Cerundolo provided a sterner test in the second set, breaking Draper’s serve in the opening game.

Another break meant Serendolo had a chance to serve to win the set with a 5-4 lead, but Draper resisted and won three consecutive games to seal the victory on the first match point.

Norrie and Draper’s victory came a day after fellow Brit Emma Raducanu was beaten by American Amanda Anisimova, winning just two games and being eliminated in 52 minutes.

Nouri was seeded No. 27 in the men’s draw but he went above and beyond, earning three breaks in his win over De Minaur. His next opponent will be Australian qualifier Rinky Hijikata, who defeated Kazakh 10th seed Alexander Bublik in three sets.
