In his bag when he won the WWT Championship

Ben Griffin is having the best season of his career, but that’s not stopping him from tinkering with the package.
Griffin made a surprise change this week, swapping out his long-time trusty Scotty Cameron Newport 2 putter for a new TaylorMade Spider Tour X Black putter at the World Skills Championship. It’s an interesting move considering Griffin ranks 16th in strokes gained on Tour this season.
Apparently, the change didn’t stop him as he shot a final-round 63 at Diamante’s El Cardonal course to win the World Technical Championship by two strokes.
This is Griffin’s third PGA Tour title of the season, joining two other notable Spider Tour X users, Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy, as three-time 2025 champions. Spider is the winningest putter on the PGA Tour this season, with Griffin’s latest win bringing the total to 14.

Win the first time you start. No hitting links this week, but he did rank second in strokes per GIR with 1.59.

Griffin has obviously had the Spider since the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in February, and must be looking to make a change after a poor performance on the greens at the DP World Tour India Championship two weeks ago. According to DataGolf, Griffin missed a green on India for the first time since the John Deere Classic in July.
There is no Shot Link data for Mexico this week, but Griffin ranks second with 1.59 strokes per GIR.
The victory also marked the third win for Griffin’s unreleased UST Mamiya LINQ Proto driver shaft. Griffin is one of the few PGA Tour pros with a shaft contract after signing with UST earlier this year.
Griffin is also a user of Maxfli Tour X golf balls, which he used to win all three of his tournaments this year, the first time in the brand’s 22-year history. Griffin is Max Foley’s only PGA Tour spokesperson.
This is another global victory for Mizuno Pro S-3 irons. Between Griffin and Marco Penge on the DP World Tour, Irons has six wins across the two tours this season.

TaylorMade Milled Grind 5 Custom Wedges
Forged Feel Incredible feel is a must for a great wedge game. The MG5 is forged from mild carbon steel and features a geometric design that provides great feel and good feedback. The MAXIMUM SPIN MG5 features new, more aggressive grooves designed to maximize spin. Saw-milled grooves produce tighter tolerances, allowing engineers to design steeper walls and sharper radii to maximize spin in both dry and wet conditions. PERFORMANCE IN ALL CONDITIONS The RAW face features Spin Tread technology, which wicks away moisture to help maintain spin. Just like tire treads help your car stay connected to the road, laser-etched channels redirect water at impact and create more friction between the club face and golf ball to maintain spin in wet conditions. Craftsmanship and Consistency Handcrafted and then polished to perfection. Each wedge and sole grind is precision ground to eliminate the natural human error that comes with hand polishing. Our grinds provide unparalleled consistency and craftsmanship that players can rely on every time. Charcoal Finish For the first time, the MG5 features a stylish, sophisticated charcoal finish that reduces glare and enhances the bag’s beauty.
