The 2025-26 season is Lauri Markkanen’s ninth season in the NBA and fourth with the Utah Jazz. Markkanen was traded to the Jazz by the Cavaliers in the 2022 offseason. He spent one season in Cleveland after spending his first four seasons with the Bulls. Since joining the Jazz, Lauri Markkanen has taken his offensive production to another level. In four seasons with the Utah Jazz, he averaged 23.5 points per game. This number would be higher if he hadn’t averaged 19.0 points per game in the 2024-25 season.
Markkanen, who was dealing with a back injury at the time, played in 47 of the Jazz’s 82 games. The 28-year-old is off to a good start in the 2025-25 season at Utah State. He averaged 30.6 points per game, which is undoubtedly the highest score of his career. It’s still early in the year, but Lauri Markkanen has been a steady source of offense. He joins Stephen Curry as the only players to score more than 45 points multiple times this season. Markkanen scored 47 points last night and 51 points against the Suns on October 27th. The Jazz won 138-134 in overtime. Another player who has played a big role for the Jazz this season is shooting guard Keyonte George. This is his third season with the Utah Jazz after being drafted sixth overall in 2023.
George started all 13 games for the Jazz at the start of the 2025-26 season. He averaged 22.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 1.0 steals per game, all hitting career highs.
