Greensboro Gargoyle is one of the latest ECHL franchises that will play games at First Horizon Stadium (formerly Greensboro Stadium). Recently, they launched their first ever jersey before the 2025-26 season and were announced by the co-owner of Spittin’ Chiclets. Gargoyle unveils his first ever jersey

On Thursday, August 21, the Gargoyles held a ceremony to announce their first jersey for their 2025-26 season debut. The guy from Spittin’Chiclets posted a video about social events showing what the house, roads and alternative jerseys look like. It is safe to say that they are essential items for Jersey vegetable collectors and/or stone statue fans. The color schemes that the team will use are purple, gold, white and black. Home improvement jerseys will be mainly purple, black, gold and white. The road version will be mainly white, purple, black and gold trim. Finally, the alternate version (probably the best of the three) will be black with the alternate gargoyle head logo. The only other color on the alternative is purple, but overall, all three jerseys appear perfectly.

It’s an exciting time for Gargoyle fans as they can now grab the first jersey of all time, just an hour from the Hurricane. Having the ability to be so close to the NHL team will allow Hurricane fans to see some of their prospects in Greensboro and absorb more hockey in the area. The ECHL is an interesting league and there is a feeling that people will flock to “Greensboro Cathedral” this upcoming season. That being said, the Gargoyle not only unveiled the jersey. They also built their first squad in the upcoming 2025-26 season.

If you build it, they’ll come

The first player to sign a gargoyle when signing forward Logan Nelson on Wednesday, July 30. The 31-year-old Nelson joined the team in 66 games after 18 goals and 52 points in the 2024-25 season with the Tahoe Knight Monsters. He served as their replacement captain, adding three goals and eight points in eight games last season in the ECHL playoffs. The gargoyle’s first ever head coach Scott Burt coached Nelson while he was busy in Rapid City from 2021 to 2024. “Logan is a real fighter, a little behind the player,” he said. “Logan struggles to play games and hates losing games, which is all our concepts, we want him to understand my game, and I don’t know I’m on the ice. Standards and culture, he’s going to bring it to Greensboro.” If someone starts using the franchise in the ECHL, then a veteran like Nelson can’t go wrong.

Along with Nelson, Gangoyles added forward Luke Mylymok in their first deal with The Rush. In his first professional season, he scored 12 goals and 20 points in 45 games. Later, they added forwards Wade Murphy, Patrick Newell, Anthony Rinaldi and Colton Leiter. While there is still a long way to go to fill the lineup, the Gargoyles hope to hit (or skate) on the ground against home Jacksonville Icemen on October 18. It kicked off their 72 regular season slates (36 homes, 36 distances), which would allow them to compete in the North District.

In the northern section, they will join the Adironda Thunder, Worcester Railing, Maine Mariners, Norfolk Admiral, Reading Royals, Wheeling and the Trois-Rivieres Lions. Watching Gargoyles will be an interesting inaugural season while driving the ECHL, which is rapidly expanding in North America, and each season seems to be a new franchise. Either way, it’s more hockey in North Carolina and has a connection with their Stanley Cup champion team. As the season develops, the growing relationship between hurricanes and gargoyles will be a concern. Regardless of the situation, there is only one inauguration season, and the gargoyles are looking to leave their mark.
