Game Preview

The Timberwolves, Minnesota, competed in Game 1 of the Western Conference's second-round series in Minneapolis. The seven-game winning streak series will remain in Minnesota’s Game 2 on Thursday before moving to San Francisco for Game 3 and Game 4.

Golden State will beat the Houston Rockets for an incredible road-7 victory. The Warriors only had one day off between Sunday's 103-89 victory in Houston and Tuesday's series opener.

When Jimmy Butler made his debut against the Chicago Bulls on February 8, the Warriors finished 25-26. Golden State went on to win 24 of 32 games to end the regular season before moving forward and getting the second seed Rockets beat.

“We're excited. We're excited,” said Golden State coach Steve Kerr. “When I think back to the trade deadlines we have as a team, I am proud of what these guys have achieved, and like Stephen said, put us in a meaningful basketball and give ourselves the chance. That's everything you want every year: Do you have a chance? We have a chance with this group.”

Meanwhile, Anthony Edwards led the Timberwolves to score, averaging 26.8 points per game in the playoffs. He also provided 31 assists with only six turnovers in a five-game series beating the third seed Los Angeles Lakers.

Julius Randle also stepped up Minnesota this season’s playoffs, averaging 22.6 points per game. Jaden McDaniels averaged 17.4 points per game.

However, Golden State won the regular season series 3-1. All of these games happened before the Warriors won Butler. Entering this game, the Timberwolves are 7-1 in the last eight games.

According to ESPN's basketball power index, Wolves had a 51.9% chance to beat Golden State in Game 1. The Warriors have 8-2 in 10 meetings with Northwest Division opponents in the last 10 games, while Minnesota has been 7-0 in the last seven home games.
