Game Preview

The Denver Nuggets visited the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round of the Western Conference to lead 3-2 in the seventh series. Denver lost 34 points in Game 3 before rebounding back to back victory. The Nuggets will try to end the series in Game 6 at Ingwood, Mavericks on Thursday night.

Denver won Game 4 on a slam dunk by Buzzer Aaron Gordon, and Jamal Murray scored 43 points on Tuesday night with a 131-115 home victory. Murray ranked eight-point three-pointers, 17 of the overall 26 goals, and also scored 7 assists, 5 rebounds and 3 steals.

“We're a different team when he's aggressive,” said Nuggets guard Russell Westbrook, who added 21 points to the bench. “When he had that big swagger, he was going out to participate in the level he did [Tuesday night]we are a team that is difficult to beat. ”

Despite Denver leading 3-2 with a 3-2 lead, three-time MVP Nikola Jokic scored only 13 points in Game 5. Jokic recorded 12 assists and 10 rebounds in the 21st career playoff triple-double, but he was still on the offensive end after he scored 36 points in the series in Game 4.

“It's tough to get the Jokers to 13 points and lose the game, but that's how they beat you,” said Clippers coach Tyronn Lue. “If you're too worried about him, someone else can beat you.”

The Clippers hope to avoid their third consecutive first round exit. They lost five games to Phoenix in 2023 and lost to the Phoenix Suns in six games last season with the Dallas Mavericks.

According to ESPN's basketball power index, the Clippers have a 54.9% chance of defeating Denver. The Nuggets are 5-2 in the last seven meetings with Los Angeles, while the Clippers are 14-2 in their last 16 home games.
