Game Preview

The Oklahoma City Thunder hosted the visiting Denver Nuggets in Game 2 of the Western Conference Semi-Finals series on Wednesday after Monday's 121-119 family losses will open for the second round.

In the regular season, the Thunder played back-to-back games only twice, and the most popular contender in the Western Conference playoffs has never played more than two consecutive games.

In Game 1, the Nuggets were nine minutes behind in nine minutes before Nikola Jokic assembled his roster, and then Denver had less than four seconds left before Aaron Gordon won the three-pointer.

“We know it’s about how we react,” said Thunder Star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. “We can't do anything about what happened, so there's no need to let our heads down or be sad about it or be ashamed of it. All we can do is be better in the next game, and that's what we focus on.”

Jokic ended with 42 points and 22 rebounds. The third-time MVP scored only at least 40 points, 20 rebounds and 5 assists in the playoffs. Jamal Murray also added 21 points.

Denver's Russell Westbrook started his career with the Thunder, and he also assisted Gordon's game winner. This is his first playoff game in Oklahoma City as an opponent player.

“We don't want to miss this moment. We don't want to miss this opportunity,” Gordon said. “I'm glad we showed courage, but we're not satisfied.”

The series will move to Colorado Games 3 and 4 later this week.

Thunder had a 65.7% chance of defeating Denver in Game 2, according to ESPN's basketball power index. The Nuggets have 8-3 against Western Conference opponents in the last 11 games, while OKC has been 3-16 in the last 19 games in May.
