If Jannik Sinner wins the BNP Paribas Open this week, the Italian will not only leave Indian Wells with a trophy but also a piece of history.
The player ranked second in the ATP Tour PIF ATP Rankings has won five of six hard-court ATP Masters 1000 events. The only thing missing from his collection is Indian Wells, where his best results were the semi-finals in 2023 and 2024. This year, however, Sinner looks poised to take things even further. The Italian didn’t drop a set on his way to the quarterfinals and was one step closer to completing it.

If Sinner lifts the trophy, he will join Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer as the only men to win all six hard-court Masters 1000 events.

Djokovic has won at least two of those events and is tied with Federer on five Indian Wells wins. The Swiss great also completed the full set during his career, with particular success at the Cincinnati Masters, where he won a record seven titles.
Sinner won his first Masters 1000 title in Canada in 2023, followed by wins in Miami, Cincinnati and Shanghai in 2024. He lifted the trophy in Paris last season. Sinner will next face Learner Tien in the quarterfinals in California.
