In the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, the Hawks chose WR Johnny Wilson from Florida. As a rookie last season, Wilson played 16 of the Hawks’ 17 games and played four games. He accounts for 34% of the team’s offensive game in 2024. Additionally, Wilson took 24% of the special team snapshots. As a passer, Wilson scored five catches at 38 yards and scored a touchdown.
As a six-foot-six, Johnny Wilson has a great pose size. This allows him to make dynamic and controversial catches, especially near the goal line. By 2025, Wilson is expected to play a bigger role for the Philadelphia Eagles. Johnny Wilson was injured during Tuesday’s practice. He was eliminated and the Eagles received unfortunate news.

Sophomore pro Johnny Wilson needs surgery and his 2025 season was cut off before it started. With Wilson finished this season, the Hawks’ 2025 depth chart will have at least six WRs. Among them are AJ Brown, Devonta Smith, Jahan Dotson, Ainias Smith, Darius Cooper and John Metchie.
Just this week, the Hawks traded with the Houston Texans to acquire Mech. Young WR is a college teammate of Devonta Smith of Alabama’s Eagles and Landon Dickerson. Philadelphia replaced John Metchie before knowing that Johnny Wilson was injured. They are looking to increase WR depth and it turns out they need it. Philadelphia opened the 2025 season in Brazil on September 4 to play a neutral venue game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
