Guardian Will Brennan, Andrew Walters underwent end-of-season surgery

Two players on the Guardian Injury List have undergone surgery to end their 2025 campaign. (Tim Stebbins of MLB.com is the one who reports the news.) Outfielder Will Brennan Tommy John Andrew Walters Surgery was performed to repair his right LAT tendon. The TJ recovery time for position players is usually around 6-8 months, so Brennan should be ready to go to the 2026 opening day, and Walters may miss sometime the start of next season as his expected timeline is 8 to 10 months. Walters is already on the 60-day injury list, while Brennan will need some rooms in Cleveland’s 40-man lineup, moving from 10-day IL to 60 days.
Brennan was a regular in Cleveland outfield in 2023-24, making 808 sets (except 121 of the right-hand pitches, all hitting .265/.303/.370 on the 808 board. The shield didn’t help much with the shields produced by Brennan on the plate, and his very solid gloves on the right also went from 2023 to 2024. Nolan Jones Just before the opening day, the team’s outfield platoon is heading in a new direction, and Brennan is indeed selected as Triple-A to start the season.
Brennan, called on May 12, competed in just six games in the Guard before being placed on the 10-day injury list, was initially thought to have left behind forearm inflammation. The subsequent test showed a more serious UCL injury, and it’s been a long time now that Brennan is able to compete in the next major league game. He entered the season with a formal MLB service of two years and 15 days, so his earlier minor means Brennan even continued to accumulate a full three years on the Guardian’s major league Il.
Despite Brennan becoming the backup plan for the Guardian, he lost his deep choice of his long-struggle outfield mix for the rest of 2025. Steven Kwan Becoming the sole productive outfielder of the guardian again, so adding some help to the grass seems to be a priority for the club to move towards the trade deadline.
Driveway Thomas Since Cleveland has activated the outfielder from today’s 10-day IL, some help can be expected from within. Thomas hit only .119/.169/.136 in just 65 pa, and the bone bruises and plantar fasciitis in his right foot due to two separate ILs fixed to his right wrist.
Walters, the Guardians’ second round pick in the 2023 draft, starred nine times for Cleveland in September last September over a year or so after his draft date. He started this season with Triple-A Columbus, spending three weeks in the minor leagues due to inflammation in the elbow, so he only had 12 minor league innings this season, with his 1 1/3 innings playing with the Guardian in two games. Walters’ injury caused in his second appearance on May 30 Mike Trout During the Guard’s 4-1 loss to the Angels.
The only silver lining here for Walters is that he will get major league service hours at Illinois State University (IL), but for 24-year-old Righty, the LAT surgery is clearly a tough setback. Walters is almost entirely a backup pitcher case in college and professional players, with 2.17 ERA in 62 1/3 innings and a strikeout rate of 36.3%. A 13% walk rate is a problem, but if Walters can manage his control, his live fastball and strikeout ability will make him a candidate for a high-leverage relief job once healthy once healthy.
