Grizzlies resigned Cam Spencer to four years, contracted $10.5 million

The Memphis Grizzlies have re-signed guard Cam Spencer to a four-year, $10.5 million contract, with Mark Bartelstein and Priority Sports’ Ross Aroyo informing ESPN’s Shams Charania Monday on Monday.

Grizzlies, Cam Spencer agrees to restructuring deal

Spencer had previously agreed to a two-year $4.5 million deal last month, but the Grizzlies were able to reorganize after a recent offseason action. The deal will now include three fully guaranteed years.

According to Michael Scotto of Hoopshype, the fourth year was reportedly a team choice.

When the Grizzlies initially agreed to a minimum level contract with Spencer, they were unsure whether they had to waive his rights to accommodate Jaren Jackson’s renegotiation agreement.

Earlier this month, Jackson suffered a right foot injury and needed surgery. The 6-foot-10-sized big man was injured in an off-field open basketball game.

Jackson is expected to recover completely.

Spencer vs. Memphis has limited time

Spencer, 25, was acquired by the Detroit Pistons’ Grizzlies, the 53rd pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. Maryland natives coach the Eskimo dogs to the 2024 NCAA Championship.

Last season’s 6-foot-3, the 201-pound Spencer appeared in Memphis rookies in 25 games (one game), averaging 4.2 points, 1.2 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 10.1 minutes of games.

Spencer set a career-high with 23 points and 7 assists in 37 minutes in the only game against the Dallas Mavericks on April 13. He also started eight NBA G League games for Memphis during the Tips Championship and the regular season.

In the hustle and bustle, Spencer averaged 23.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.1 steals and 32.2 minutes per game while shooting 53.8% from the field, 49.3% from three-pointers and 76.5% from the free throw line.

He also scored 51 points in a tip tournament against Birmingham on December 2.

Cole Anthony agrees to takeover contract with Grizzlies

The move also happened the day after senior defender Cole Anthony agreed to a contract with the Grizzlies. According to Charanney, he intends to sign with the Milwaukee Bucks after clearing the waiver.

Memphis ended up completing the acquisition Saturday for Anthony’s representatives Jeff Schwartz and Javon Phillips with his representatives Jeff Schwartz and Javon Phillips. The 25-year-old is expected to reach a one-year contract with the Bucks.

The Grizzlies acquired Anthony, Kentavy Caldwell-Pop, four unprotected first-round picks, and a first-round pick exchange in a blockbuster deal, which brought Desmond Bane to the Orlando Magic.

Memphis has been working with Anthony’s representatives to reach a resolution that would create enough cap space for the Grizzlies to renegotiate and expand Jackson to a new five-year high of $240 million.
