Scottie Scheffler announces early championship at the Open

If we were to take Scottie Scheffler out of the equation, we would enjoy a fascinating final round at Royal Prothush.

With three-time major champions, four champions from Haotong Li, Rory McIlroy and Tyrrell Hatton, were in fourth place.

Scheffler won’t add Claret jugs to his resume, but it’s a big link, a solid link test that seems unthinkable, a big link test, and the 29-year-old hasn’t yet challenged in the game’s oldest major.

It’s a day for multiple eras, and in many ways we don’t often see Portrush in the sun, McIlroy is doing his thing, making birds and honeycomb putts from anywhere, but it’s no surprise that Scheffler’s task for everything is no surprise.

Scottie Scheffler

Where to start? There are many ominous aspects of Scheffler’s four-shot lead, but one of them is that he doesn’t shoot all day. The PGA champion had only three bogeys this week, and on the 16th he scored 14 for the third time in a row and was in the perfect position to lock in the third stop of the career Grand Slam.

Scheffler actually took some time to expand his lead, but at No. 7 one eagle and the next bird were at a distance between him and the field, and he kept saving Par as long as he found himself with the position.

“I got a really good draw on 11, played well on 14, and I did some good things. I was very patient most of the day, but it felt like I was playing really well. Sometimes it was hard for the main champion to make birdies, and today, I just had to give myself some look and be able to radiate something.

“It’ll be good, but I won’t think about it tonight (Grands). I’m going home, trying to take a break, and get back and get ready.”

In 2023, Lee will lay off 20/22 on the DP World Tour with an average stroke of 74, and within six months he actually gave up on the game.

He will play on Sunday with world number one Scottie Scheffler in the last two goals of the Open.

The Chinese star finished third in Birkdale in 2017, but missed his last three opening games, sitting four rounds at the 69-year-old. It was a day that Lee could easily fall in the 70s, but he had done the task – he had only three bogeys throughout the week – and he would do it on Sunday’s career.

Rory McIlroy

McIlroy finally experienced an open weekend in Prothush when he shot it out with a 66 shot to enter the fourth. Everything has it. On the second day, a ridiculous opening birdie, an old ball popped up after he reached 11th, while the next deafening Hawk was a 56-foot ball.

Finally, that means he’ll be six shots around Scheffler, but it’s still an amazing day around Dunluce Links.

“It’s incredible. It’s so fun. I walked the perfect start, at 3 to 4. Then, I thought I had the last seven holes at 3 and I thought it was a good effort. Sometimes I rode with luck, but, yes, that was an incredible atmosphere. I felt like I gave myself at least half the chance.

“The twelfth time was probably one of my coolest moments in the class. When the ball came in, the roar was crazy. It was crazy all day, but the noise after the putt was incredible.”

Lee Westwood

In an amazing back, Nine Westwood did what had previously done with only one player in the Open Championship game. The 52-year-old half was 40-29, giving himself a top-10 chance and earning his 29th Open return.

The Worksop star is four quarters after six birdies come home.

“I just started to make good swings from 7 o’clock. And then I looked at wow, I think I could bird every hole. Just show you that you have to be patient and never give up, right? Persist? Persist. I kept writing a lot of threes on the scorecard and I was doing well, I didn’t even know the last moment I needed to come down.”

Westwood led the driving statistics, scoring more than six shots on the field, and his entire game was on the rise recently as he hoped to lock in one of the top ten.

“I had some good swing ideas throughout the game. I had some good swing ideas in my long game, both in short matches and bunker games. On the green, putts, I felt like I was starting at some nice pace.”

As for the spark that makes him move forward, we can thank his caddie (and his wife).

“On the 10th tee, that’s the key: do you want half the tuna sandwich? If you start to attract my belly, there’s only one way I can. That’s it.”

John Parry

Not long ago, Parry played on the mini tour and now he does get the competition. His second victory on the DP World Tour last December came 14 years after his first match and now he is only under threat in his fifth major start.

The British, who played with ’97 champion Justen Leonard, had already run twice after 12 o’clock, but then hit the No. 8 iron in the first hole of the championship, a total of “about 10” by Parry.

“The atmosphere is absolutely amazing. I made a really good shot at one time. I know I have a big window to land the ball in. It either goes short or hits downhill and falls, and it’s much stronger than what I thought of the club, but I think I think it’s going to be close, this is a 38-year-old.”

“It’s one of them, you can almost be taken away and then downhill. I’m back to reality because I think No. 14 is probably the hardest hole in the course, so it’s back to grinding.”

Parry will shoot 14, birdie 15 and shoot 18 from the field with 67 and three-thirds total.

Xander Schauffele

Defending champion Schauffele is in danger of playing a tough game in 11th place on Friday. Then he’s over and now he’s got a -7.

On Saturday, the American American, who had two eagles and two birdies, continued his steady progress this week – 71-69-66. Highlights on the 12th with a 45-foot player.

“It’s just one of the putts you’re trying to be in the three to five feet range. There’s some evil pin position this week, and that’s one of them. It’s a very, very available 5 because it helps the left. But it’s nice to see a very long putt. I think it’s my first long week of the week,” the 31-year-old said.

He sits on -7 now, but he doesn’t expect a lot of opportunities to be the first player to defend a public championship since Padrag Harrington in 2007-08.

“I need three more places to feel close enough to Scott or Fitzpatrick or Haotong.

Justin Rose

For anyone playing the game, the calf is the most disturbing shot you can play. Ross hit one of the eighth holes and three more holes – both from rough and both caused a startling response from the players.

However, both also resulted in a pair of bogeys as the British counterattacked in the final green and back-to-back birds, including a 50-foot green, gave him eight birds 68-year-old. We all know Rose is an elegant move, but it’s a certain effort to keep hitting the ball while he’s in Hosel’s position more and more.

Brian Harman

The 2023 Open champion had only two leads in the third round, and he finished with a score of 73. Of the leading 33 players, Harman scored the highest, and he never really recovered from the first ship, at the first place he took the bunker shot.

There are four birdies, but Harman will now start the final round in the 9th draw, while his Ryder Cup teammates are eight shots behind.

Wyndham Clark

The 2023 U.S. Open champion scored 66 shots below 66 in Royal Protush on Saturday. With five birdies and no shots, this was his best round in the Open. However, he still chose not to talk to the media later, which would not help his career after smashing his locker at the U.S. Open in Oakmont.

It is understandable to reject your media duties, after 77 years of age, you may be behind the microphone for a few minutes. 66 and the opportunity to carry out a Charm Offensive is again Clark’s progress.

Shane Lowry

Lowry experienced a very painful tragedy in the 24 hours of Protush. Last night, he was given two free throws, turning 70 into 72 free throws. Now, he is struggling for the virus when he fights 74 times in the third round – the 2019 champion actually got his round after 13 holes, but then three holes, but then 14 times, Bogey made 17 falls.

I haven’t had a meal today. I wanted to drink protein after eight wells and I felt like throwing it away all over the place. Honestly, every bathroom I went to tried to throw it away, I couldn’t. I woke up at 2:30 and I had cramps in my stomach and we had a few days at home. I went in, but I wouldn’t make excuses.

Tommy Fleetwood

The last five holes never throw too many opportunities, but Fleetwood’s chances sink when he plays in a couple.

Last time here for the second time, having a conversation on the accumulation, Fleetwood caught up with second place and was out of 33. Then there was another birdie in 5 12 12 to reach 5, and Scheffler hasn’t taken action yet, and it seems like there’s a chance in a few shots, but 14 and 16 see a pair of dropped balls.

“I felt like walking out of the (twelfth) green, I ran 5 shots in the race, but felt like I could be better then. That was a mistake.

“My round was very good, and I was hoping for more, and then just a disappointing finish. A few bad shots, a few mistakes, and overall it felt a little annoyed or frustrated or disappointed, no matter what you’re talking about. But it’s not a bad round, it’s not what we need.”

Finally, when most of us cried in the mid-60s, it added up to 69.
