Golf Business News – Titleist introduces AVX and Tour Soft Soft AIM 360 Balls

Titleist expands the golf ball’s offering with the launch of AVX and Tour Soft AIM 360 golf balls, both with new 360-degree markings designed to improve alignment accuracy.

The new AIM 360 design is the latest addition to Titleist Aligned Lineup Integrated Markup (AIM) offerings, which also include Pro V1, Pro V1X and Pro V1X Left DASH Enhanced Golf Balls.

Now, in retail, the all-new AIM 360 AVX and Tour Soft golf are the first models introduced by Titleist, marked in full 360 degrees.

“The AVX and Tour Soft Soft AIM 360 models are a great addition to the lineup as they provide more golfers with the opportunity to play advanced alignment designs,” said Frederick Waddell, director of golf product management. “It expands our goals to AVX and Tour Soft Soft golfers, and the 360-degree marking on the golf ball makes the player look very different from the enhanced alignment. It is designed for players who like our other golf balls’ larger alignment with AIM technology.”

The concept of alignment markings on Titleist golf balls dates back to 2007, when the alignment feature was first added to the Pro V1 side stamp. This integration is a direct result of feedback from Tour players, many of whom have added alignment to their own golf balls themselves. Since then, Titleist golf balls have provided a wide variety of tips and subtle designs in side stamps to help golfers better aim at their putts and tees.

In recent years, the popularity of alignment features beyond the standard side stamps has increased, leading to golfers requiring new designs to be printed directly on golf balls.

“When we started the design process, we wanted to make sure that the designs we created all resonate with golfers, but also offer a real performance advantage,” Waddell explained.

To validate their design concept, Titleist Golf Development conducted a controlled test to measure the accuracy of alignment between three markers: AIM 360, enhanced alignment and standard Pro V1 side stamp. Instruct the golfer to line up the golf balls and evaluate the accuracy by measuring the left and right distances with the holes aligned with the marks by absolute angle. The results show that the alignment of the two AIM products is as high as 35% higher than that of the standard Pro V1 side stamp.

“The R&D test results are very validated, showing that these products have obvious performance advantages in precise alignment; they are more than just decorations,” Waddell said.
