Golf Business News – The Bishops of the Golf Academy to Open in Marco Simone

Marco Simone Golf Country Club and Golfzon Leadbetter Academy have announced a decade-long partnership that creates an unparalleled coaching environment for amateur and professional golfers.

The first golf bishop academy in mainland Italy will open this summer at the prestigious Roman venue of the 2023 Ryder Cup. The partnership will focus on a comprehensive upgrade of Marco Simone’s practice area, offering state-of-the-art technology, expert coaching and elite training facilities.

As part of the program, the Golfzon Leadbetter Academy team will bring its internationally recognized coaching expertise to Marco Simone, providing tailored teaching programs for players at all levels, while also establishing a pathway for young coaches to make young coaches world-class teachers.

“We are building for the future and by partnering with Golfzon Leadbetter Academy, we are setting a new standard for golfing excellence. Our enhanced facilities will cater to golfers, particularly young golfers, of all levels here in Rome, across Italy and indeed all Europe, and we are excited how this collaboration will inspire the next generation of champions,” said Marco Aquilino, general manager at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club.

“We are excited to bring the expertise of Golfzon Leadbetter Academy to Marco Simone,” added legendary coach David Leadbetter, founder of the academy. “This partnership is a natural fit because both the academy and the venue have a commitment to excellence and innovation in the golf world. It is a long-term collaboration that not only supports the development of local golfers, but also attracts talent from around the world.”

David Leadbetter attracted attention after his transformative influence on the golf great Nick Faldo in the 1980s. In a glittering career spanning fifty years, the famous coach has teamed up with leading winners including Ernie Els, Nick Price and Lydia Ko. There are now 30 colleges across 16 countries around the world.

Marco Simone is one of two main golf academy locations that opened on Italian land with Puntaldia on the island of Sardinia this year, reflecting the growing interest in the sport after the Ryder Cup. Golf’s growth has been greatly influenced by the enthusiasm and talent of the coach, a move reflects a new desire for club owners to invest in attracting more people to play and develop games in Italy.

Marco Simone Golf & Country Club is a short drive from Rome from four-time Italian Open hosts, which earned global acclaim when hosting the 2023 Ryder Cup. Europe achieved a leading victory in the course, which was originally designed by architect Jim Fazio and was completely renovated by Tom Fazio II and European golf design.
