Golf Business News – Team 50th Walker Cup Announced

Teams representing the UK and Ireland and the US in the 50th Walker Cup in the Cypress Point have been announced.

GB&i held on a breathtaking venue on the Monterey Peninsula, California from September 6-7, and has won the prestigious trophy for the first time since 2015, with the team winning 16½-9½ at the Royal Lytham & St Annes.

Scotsman Dean Robertson will be in Spain’s St Andrews Trophophy last month, former European Tour captained a GB&i captain and former European Tour with an impressive 16½-8½ victory.

Robertson said: “This talented team represents the best chance of skill, solidarity, resilience and determination, and it is a thorough opportunity to be worth playing in Great Britain and Ireland in the Walker Cup. I’ve been watching the players to understand their personality and attributes to understand their personality and attributes to meet the needs put forward by Cypress Point.

“We are weak, but I am confident that we have the ability to compete at the highest level and will give us the best shots. We head to Cypress Point to take the challenge, respect the legacy of the Walker Cup and aim to make history by taking back this famous trophy.”

The global amateur golf rankings and the top five players of five choices make up the GB&I side. The team includes all nine players who won the St Andrews Trophy last month, including Ian’s son Luke Poulter and British Tyler Weaver, the 11th highest ranked player.

Including Scottish duo Cameron Adam and Connor Graham, who both qualify for the Open at Royal Portrait, Graham is the only return player on a team that lost 14½-11½ to the U.S. in 2023 in St Andrews.

Former career pro Stuart Grehan made his debut after the 32-year-old Irishman returned to the amateur championship in 2025.

Cypress Point held a previous Walker Cup in 1981, which brought the United States a 15-9 victory. The U.S.-led game 39-9-1 is likely a favorite at Cypress Point, with its team owning the top three WAGR players.
