Golf Business News – Oxford Golf Club Report Record Member Numbers

The oldest golf club in Oxfordshire has begun in the 2025 season, and the spring has begun after recording the highest membership ever recorded.
Over the past five years, the Oxford Golf Club membership base has increased by 66%, with more than 750 regular players taking courses designed by Harry Colt.
This is the most members of the Cowley course founded in 1873, which attracted 300 more people ever registered than ten years ago.
The member boom came after a major investment by the club in its gaming facilities, including green upgrades, new irrigation systems and a wastewater-to-water unit, resulting in courses always open to include green upgrades, new irrigation systems and wastewater-to-water units.
Steve Greenwood, general manager of Oxford Golf Club, said the quality course conditions throughout the year, good green fees and strong community spirit contributed to the club’s success.
“Getting to our highest membership is a huge achievement, and it’s something the entire team can be proud of,” Greenwood said. “Again, the quality courses available in all seasons undoubtedly contribute to the success of the club. It’s our hard-working foundational staff and the team behind the scenes where weather patterns are becoming increasingly unpredictable. The board of directors has also been the tools needed to produce a very proud tool.
He added: “It also emphasizes more on using the land and facilities we own to diversify our operations and provides members and guests with enhanced hotel options, social events and charitable functions. In the in-house catering business, the overall appeal of membership is also enhanced and the quality of our food and services is emphasized.
“Our full 7-day membership, junior and international packages have reached capacity, with limited space available for our limited 7-day and five-day options. You have to go back to the 1990s to find the club’s membership numbers in the same stage, even when the club’s achievements were made.
Greenwood concluded: “We want golf to be attractive to everyone, which means attracting people of all ages and giving people a reason to visit our club. We are ambitious, visionary, and will not limit our development plans to other significant improvements planned in the coming years.”
The club currently charges £1,576 for seven-day adult membership, £1,166 for 5-day membership, and costs from £1,476 to £386 for those aged 35-19. No joining fee.
