Golf Business News – Old Course Hotel unveils new look at Roadhole bar and restaurant

The old course hotel at the golf resort reimagines its reimagined fourth floor, the space overlooks the link to the iconic St Andrews, which has undergone a major renovation in the past few months.
The redesign led by renowned design firm Richmond International turns Road Hole Restaurant into the ultimate destination for relaxing dining, while the chic, comfortable interior brings a new life to the Road Hole Bar.
Overlooking the legendary 17th hole of the old route, this new-looking Road Hole restaurant draws inspiration from its breathtaking coastal surroundings and comes with a natural Burgundy palette, warm sandy tones and delicate sky blues.
The restaurant features an open kitchen that allows guests to watch the action of the chefs team, transforming the best local produce into including St Andrews Bay lobster ravioli, Fife lamb and French-style vacherin desserts containing East Neuk strawberries from nearby Blacketyside.
The transformation extends to Roadhole Bar, where guests are welcomed to enjoy coffee and light snacks every day, then transformed into a sophisticated bar at night, where guests can taste over 300 whiskeys at distillery in Scotland and around the world.
“This renovation embodies our always-developed spirit while being true to our roots,” said Phyllis Wilkie, general manager of the Old Course Hotel. “Our guests can taste the landscape and food, making Scotland truly unique and revel in the elevated, comfortable spaces that nod at our home in St Andrews and give a true sense of place.”

The hotel's impressive board also benefits from a complete interior design refresh. The space features cream-woven wallpaper with artwork depicting Scottish landscapes and reimagined floral forms. The original board table has been professionally re-written by Thomas Johnstone Ltd in Ayrshire to form the heart of the room, which also overlooks the old lessons.

The fourth floor launch also made the Swilcan loft reopen after a gentle renovation. This modern seafood bar and chophouse utilizes Scotland’s best shellfish that must be served with beef and lamb from local farms, providing a “surf N turf” boost.
Additionally, the outdoor deck of Road Hole Bar has reopened in the summer, and guests can enjoy views of the Paradise Beach, the old route and St Andrews while gathering the sunset with their drinks on hand.
“We’re not only renovating the space,” Wilkie added. “We are creating life narratives that connect guests to the soul of Scottish heritage while bringing real good times.”
