Golf Business News – Grove Professionals Break the World Record of Golf Marathon

After 182 holes, walking 53 miles, 35-mile lost balls and 8,000 calories burned, Isaac Rowlands, 25, broke the Guinness World’s longest golf marathon record, hitting over £5,000 in the midnight sun in the Arctic Circle to raise more than £5,000 in the process.
At the beginning, battling four hours of heavy rain and playing for 32 hours, the assistant PGA professional in Grove, Hertfordshire, completed his extraordinary feat to surpass the previous record of the first 31 hours of Lofoten Links in Norway, the world’s northernmost link course, with the previous record set in 2022.
The challenge was inspired by Isaac’s teenage cancer brush, and the physical and emotional efforts of the campaign will make him internationally recognized on the record.
The 25-year-old Cambridge native and former captain of the Cambridge County Golf team joined Grove in 2022 before taking PGA study and joining the professional team in October 2023.
After completing a successful record attempt, Isaac said: “It’s both exhausting and exciting. Playing a course as incredible as Lofoten’s link is a real privilege and being able to contribute to such a significant cause, makes the experience even more meaningful.
“I had a lymphoma panic at the age of 19, and for this I did a lot of tests and two operations. Until I was cleared. Macmillan provided unwavering support throughout the process. I hope others in other situations continue to receive this support while going through such a tough time.”
“I’ve seen the amazing work Macmillan does for people and I want to raise awareness of their care and dedication. Thank you to my friends and colleagues at Grove and Lofoten Links for helping me achieve this, an experience I will never forget.”
Back Home’s support helped him complete months of training and preparation. Joel Westwell, director of golf golf, said: “We are very proud to support Grove of Isaac, and many of us envy him for playing such an incredible golf course. Although millions of us love to play golf, it’s a serious physical challenge, it’s a tough challenge and we’ve already given him a successful world record attempt.
Donations are still welcome on Isaac’s dedicated page.
