Golf Business News – Greg Norman Confirms Leaving LIV Golf

Greg Norman has confirmed that he has officially cut ties with Liv Golf and the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), marking the end of his four-year association with the Breakaway alliance.
The two-time Open champion launched Liv Golf in 2021 after being appointed as the Tour’s chief CEO by PIF. Under Norman, Liv Golf drew the game’s biggest stars away from the PGA Tour, which included Phil Mickelson, Brooks Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm, shaking the foundations of professional golf.
Norman was replaced by US sports executive Scott O’Neil in January but is still involved behind the scenes. However, on Wednesday, the 70-year-old announced on social media that his involvement was officially over.
“After four memorable years, my time with Liv Golf officially ended, with nothing but gratitude, pride and achievement,” Norman wrote. “Together we built a sport that changed the game globally. We created opportunities for players and fans, expanded the golf reach, and brought entertainment, innovation and private equity into the sport.”
Norman’s position was weakened in 2023, when he was far from negotiations between the PFA and PGA Tours as golf tried to heal its chasm.
Liv Golf has just finished his third full season with Jon Rahm winning back-to-back individual titles. The league’s 2026 campaign will begin in Saudi Arabia in February.
