Golf Business News – Bigga launches water management survey

Global Edition
Bigga launched a survey to better understand the issues and challenges of water management on golf courses in the UK and Ireland.
Golf club managers, course managers, green administrators and club owners are being urged to complete the survey, which covers water use, procurement and supply surrounding areas in a bid to put together strong data to create a stronger understanding of current situations and future challenges.
A Bigga spokesman said: “In the past few months, Britain and Ireland have experienced one of the driest spells on record, which immediately recorded many months of rainfall in the last two years during the long wet periods of wet weather. These extreme climatic conditions are quickly becoming the norm and posing a real threat to the sustainable development of golf courses.
“It is clear that many golf facilities are in desperate need to find solutions for long-term, sustainable water management, including irrigation and drainage. These solutions are complicated with the impact of resilient water procurement, infrastructure issues, costs, legislation and planning, which are all major concerns in the GB&i golf industry.
