Glasner hopes despite Tottenham’s conversation

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner said he hopes Eberechi Eze will play in the club’s historic European match this week, even as a transfer with Tottenham continues to be negotiated.
After the Palace’s 0-0 draw with Chelsea, Glasner said: “There are a lot of rumors about Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi, but they have 100% of the rumors with this group … and they have proved it in a big way.”
When asked about Eze’s situation, the Austrian coach added: “He will come to the Crystal Palace training ground tomorrow, take a break on Tuesday, we’ll go Wednesday, and I hope he can return to our game against Frederick Stad.”
The Palace met with Norwegian side Fredrikstad in Thursday’s Europa Conference League playoffs, their first appearance in a European game.
They qualified by winning the FA Cup last season but were included in the conference league rather than the Europa League due to the European Union’s multi-club ownership regulations.
Glasner also praised Ez and Gujue in the BBC match that day: “Everyone can see the performance against Liverpool [in the Community Shield] Today, they are 100% aligned with this team and Crystal Palace.
“As long as they invest 100% they will play well because they are so good.”
Meanwhile, Tottenham bids for Eze.
Saturday’s report indicated that the Spurs had been negotiating since the beginning of last week and were preparing for a formal offer.
There is a release clause in the contract of England International, worth £60 million plus £8 million additional terms, but the clause is now expiring.
Tottenham is said to be negotiating a deal below the number of the full package.
The Palace faces a similar situation with Marc Guehi, who has attracted a lot of interest from Liverpool. The 25-year-old centre-back also plays for England and has no contract next summer.
Last week, Chairman Steve Parish admitted that the club was willing to cash out rather than risk losing him: The Palace estimated him to be £40 million, but Liverpool was reluctant to pay the amount.
