ESPN’s Shams Charania reported on Monday get up Regarding whether superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo will stay on the Milwaukee Bucks, “still no stones.” Charania added that the two-time MVP is continuing to evaluate his NBA future.
“I reported in mid-May that he was evaluating whether his best form was Milwaukee or elsewhere. The process continues,” Charania said. “There has been some very real conversations over the past week or so. Giannis’ ongoing question is, ‘Can I win the championship with this roster? Will this roster be a roster in the upcoming year and 2026-27?”
“He wanted to win a second championship. So he asked this question over and over again. There were multiple teams waiting on the wings and if Giannis still made that decision this offseason. It was a very difficult decision for him. It was 12 years he spent there. He had a lot of fairness there. He won the championship there. He won the championship there.
“This type of move is not easy because it’s a Milwaukee Bucks group, they went out and stretched to grab the captured Damian Lillard for $113 million. They did it because they wanted to show Giannis that we’re doing everything we can to keep you here. But Giannis Antetokounmpo is what he thinks is the ultimate Decider, and that’s enough.”
Giannis Antetokounmpo remains open to leaving the Bucks
Charania reported in May that Antetokounmpo “had not made any firm decisions about the future of his Bucks” but “is aiming to explore whether his best long-term fit is playing on Milwaukee Island or elsewhere.”
However, Antetokounmpo said in a live broadcast with Ishowspeed in July that he would “probably” stay with the Bucks and that he “loves Milwaukee.” Team President Peter Feigin also said that the two sides are “in a good place.”
“We’re a little laughing inside, it’s 10 years since we’ve been there,” Feikin said on NBA TV last month. “Giannis loves Milwaukee, Milwaukee loves Giannis. We’re in a good place. We feel good about it. It’s as usual…we look forward to next season.”

“He didn’t give a clear answer about this. And I certainly wouldn’t analyze what he said on the beach in Greece, but what I’m going to say is ‘we’ll see, which is essentially five to six NBA teams, ‘we’ll see’. I know it sounds trivial, but over the years, Giannis has been completely locked up,” Winkhorst said.

Antetokounmpo, who was 31 in December, is associated with several election franchises, such as the Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors and Miami Heat.

If Giannis does decide to ask for a deal, then now may be the time to happen.

Although Antetokounmpo has maintained his contract for 2027-28, he can become a free agent in the 2027 offseason if he turns down a $62.8 million player option.
Last season’s Bucks averaged 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 1.2 blocks and 34.2 minutes of the game, while shooting 60.1%.
