LTA said there are about 1,300 clay fields in the UK in 2024. It's about 5% of the 23,000 people in the courts' total.
By comparison, about 60% of Spain’s courts (one of the major countries on the surface) are clay.

Draper may not classify clay as his favorite surface, but he has also been experienced with BBC Sport since he was a child: “On ATP, I never played loads on ATP.
But when I was young, whether in the UK or abroad, I always did a great job on clay.
“I always thought I was a player who could do well on all the surfaces.”
