French Open 2025 results: Jaume Munar criticizes ‘circus’ crowd for “complete lack of respect”

Jaume Munar criticized the “circus” created by the open crowd in France and accused them of “complete lack of respect” in his five-dish losses to the family’s favorite Arthur Fils.
Espanyol fought back from two sets against the 14th seed FIL in the second round but eventually dropped 7-6 (7-3) 7-6 (7-4) 2-6 0-6 0-6 6-4 at the Suzanne Lenglen court.
A raucous French crowd provided enthusiastic support to FIL as he fought in a back injury to win an epic victory after four hours and 25 minutes.
“I will be very clear about this issue and I will not weaken my words,” Munar said in a post-match press conference.
“If they encourage another player, if they yell, that’s great. In South America, it’s also intense.
“But I think the total lack of respect – here, happening often – they keep singing, they keep interrupting.
“It’s not even an emotional or personal impact issue, but the drama can’t last as normal.”
