French Open 2025 Final: Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner thriller prove the competition here

Alcaraz imitated his childhood hero Rafael Nadal, a record 14-time champion for Roland Garros, who won his fifth place major at the same age as 22, a month and three days.

Meanwhile, the Sinner is the youngest man to have three consecutive Grand Slam singles finals since 14th-time Major Champion Pete Sampras in 1994.

Such statistics are a good indication of where they both found themselves.

So, where does their competition go from here?

Both have titles in the remaining two Grand Slam matches in 2025 – Alkaraz of Wimbledon and Sinner of the U.S. Open.

Alcaraz led Sinner 20-19 in the professional title, reducing Sinner’s lead in the world rankings to 2,030 points.

But after the defending champions had 2,000 points at Wimbledon, Sina had only 400 points after last year’s quarter-finals.

Alkaraz added: “I’m sure he’ll learn from this game and we’ll be stronger next time we face each other.”

“I’m sure he’ll do his homework. I’ll try to learn how to get better [and] Tactically hurt his game.

“I’m not going to beat him forever, it’s obvious. So I have to keep learning from the game against him.”
