French Open 2025: Amelie Mauresmo responds to criticism of Roland Garros Night Sessions

French Open Night Conference (launched in 2021) – Only one singles match at Court Philippe Chatrier.

A women’s singles match (women’s singles match) has not been in this prime time game since 2023 – meaning the last 19 night sessions were men’s singles matches, which were played in five sets.

There are only four games since the women’s draw brought four years ago.

Questions are asked every year about whether the French Open should do more to promote the women’s competition.

Mauresmo said that women’s competition could be “very fast” is the reason behind the choice.

“There is nothing new in the sun compared to the previous version,” she said.

“We have a game every night. It hasn’t changed. We won’t change everything anymore.

“When you have at least three innings, two sets can be very fast – here’s my shot.

“no [women] Arrived now. I’m not talking about this. ”

Mauresmo also said that due to concerns about a late end, the game did not want to play two games at night meetings, such as the Australian Open and the U.S. Open.

She pointed out the entire crowd – playing in front of the entire house until 23:45 local time – in a match between France’s favorite Gael Monfils and Britain’s No. 1 Jack Draper – to measure the success of the schedule.

“If we had two matches at night meetings, how late it would be for the players to end,” she said.

“But if we started earlier, the stands would be empty for most of the first game, so we kept a game at night.

“It’s not ideal. We can’t check every box because when we make these choices, we have a lot to consider.”
