France Open Semi-Final 2025: Novak Djokovic chases more history – Can Jannik Sinner stop him?

The era of the “Big Three” may be about to end – but the threat has not disappeared.

Players born in the 1990s were limited to two Grand Slam singles champions between them, as Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic set the main prize for more than twenty years.

Two players born after 2000 have captured seven major titles between them.

That’s the top two for Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz who are currently in the collision course in Paris.

But Novak Djokovic is still vaguely visible.

The 38-year-old faced the sinner – 15 years younger than him – has become the oldest man of the last four since 1968 in Friday’s first French Open semi-final.

“I think he’s a little underrated right now,” Alexander Zverev said after falling to Djokovic in four sets on Wednesday.

“I think a lot of people have already forgotten him, but this year he won Carlos at the Australian Open, and he beat me at the French Open.

“Forget the age. It’s a great result for any player.”

Meanwhile, defending champion Alcaraz will continue his dominance over Lorenzo Musetti in the second semifinal.
