Florida sports director Scott Stricklin signed for 3 years

Florida athletic director Scott Stricklin signed a three-year extension that will keep him in the contract by 2030 and told ESPN’s Pete Thamel on Friday. Financial details are not disclosed.

His new deal was reached after the Gators won the men’s basketball championship, the third and first following coach in program history, Todd Golden won the national championship. Stricklin hired Gold in March 2022.

Under Stricklin, Florida, a $85 million football facility and a $65 million baseball field are also opened. The sports program has preliminary plans for a $1 billion renovation project, the “Swamp,” for the Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
According to the Florida staff catalog, Stricklin replaced Jeremy Foley, who served as Florida athletic director for 25 years. Stricklin became the 14th Athletic Director of Gators in school history on November 1, 2016.
Along the way, the Gators won 13 national titles, including at least one in nine years at school, and 45 conference titles, while leading one of the most well-known brands in college sports.
Florida’s football program has not yet enjoyed similar success under coach Billy Napier, who entered Saturday night’s season opener just 19-19 of three seasons.
However, the 15th Gators, with four straight wins, is the longest winning streak in the SEC, ranking in the preseason for the first time since 2021.
Strickling previously served as Mississippi athletic director
Stricklin gained over 29 years of experience in intercollegiate athletics, including six athletic directors at his alma mater, Mississippi State University.
Locals in Jackson, Michigan led the lead in over $140 million in facility improvements while leading MSU, while helping to significantly improve club membership and donations.
MSU student-athletes are also thriving academically under Stricklin’s leadership, with a combined sum of 3.0 GPA in 2014-15, marking the highest in MSU history.
Additionally, Stricklin received the 2015-16 Sports Director of the Year Award from the National Association of College Athletic Directors (NACDA), which recognizes the efforts of athletic directors at all levels.
Stricklin also served as Deputy Director of Media Relations at Auburn University from 1993 to 98. He then moved to Tulane to become assistant sports director and main media contact for Green Wave football team, before working as an assistant advertising at Baylor from 1999 to 2003 for communications and marketing.
Following Baylor’s tenure, Stricklin served as deputy media advertising for Kentucky media relations from 2003-08, overseeing the daily promotion of Wildcats basketball.
Stricklin, who served on the College Football Playoff Selection Committee for three years, is considered one of the top advertising in the United States.
