NHL Rumors: Florida Panthers looking to retain Sergei Bobrovsky

Dave Paniotta: “I haven’t, to be honest, I haven’t heard much about Bobrovsky and the front line there. By the way, I’m referring to the same agent as Panarin; both are the same agent as Kaprizov. I just haven’t heard much. I don’t think, at least from what I’ve gathered from the Florida side, there’s been a lot of rush to try and lock him down.

I think there’s a bit of consensus that when it gets to this point they’re going to figure it out. In order to win two championships, they have made some moves over the years, such as moving players like Spencer Knight away. I have to imagine that Bobrovsky will continue to have some type of conversation beyond this contract.

Now, things obviously change with the seasons. He’d probably say they’ve done really well wherever they’ve finished this year. I might decide to hang it up. I’m sure this will be part of his internal discussion. But I also have to imagine he would want to continue playing here for a longer period of time.

But I don’t think anything is really progressing. Or at least, no one told me anything remotely related to an extension in that regard was even close. But I think to at least reiterate what I said, there’s a little bit of understanding that, hey, we’ll get there when we get there. “
