Michael Malone on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: He is a foul artist

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has averaged 8.8 free throw attempts per game with a 7.7 shooting percentage, but has increased against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the last two games. In Game 2, he tried 14 in Game 1 and 15 as Michael Malone called him a “foul artist” on ESPN's Scott Van Pelt Show. “I think it's an easy way. Obviously, you watched the last series against Denver. I'll tell you, you have to be super disciplined,” Malone said. “Yes, it's almost impossible. You're considering trying to defend the best offensive player in the league today, it's almost impossible. Any contact, a lot of times, an offensive player like Shai will start the contact and will hook his arm and hopefully contact that,” said Malone. “As I mentioned earlier today, he's a foul artist.” “So disciplined, you want the referee to read the game after allowing you to become more aggressive. You can do that. But, he lives on the foul line again. 14 free throw attempts, 15 tonight, 15 tonight, and that won't be done.”
