“I will never give up on the Ryder Cup,” he said.
“I just don’t, that’s it.”
What Wallace probably already knew on Monday was that Luke Donald appointed Shane Lowry, Jon Rahm, Sepp Straka, Viktor Hovland, Ludvig Aberg and Matt Fitzpatrick as European teams’ six captain draft picks. Still, when asked about Wallace and other snubs, Donald admitted in Sky Sports that he had seen Wallace’s interview.
“Obviously, there’s an extremely difficult appeal to Matt,” Donald said. “Obviously, looking at all the golf balls yesterday, I saw his emotions. It’s just a sign of what it means to represent your country, your flag, and this rest European.
“It’s so sad. It’s hard to call these people to them for 12 months and think they’re doing enough. I really hope some of these people who are near missteps will be part of the team in two years.”

Why he was excluded from the team: Wallace has not won a championship this year on the PGA Tour or the DP World Tour, and he has never played in the Ryder Cup team. He also ranked 115th in the PGA Tour this season, winning the game on Tee.
Thomas Detry
The last European Ryder Cup team rankings: 13th
Why he is considered a snub: Detry won the WM Phoenix Open. He also released five other top 25s on the PGA Tour this season.
Why he was excluded from the team: Detry’s top 25 ended before the U.S. Open, and he had never played on the Ryder Cup team. He also ranked 99th in the PGA Tour this season, winning totals: Total, SG: Tee to Green No. 111, SG: 123rd: Near Green, SG: 110th around SG: Green No. 1.
Marco Penge
The last European Ryder Cup team rankings: 14th
Why he is considered a snub: He won two championships this year on the DP World Tour, and he finished second in the Genesis Scottish Open. He is also ranked eighth in driving distance this year.
Why he was excluded from the team: Lack of experience. Victory was his first DP World Tour of his career, and he played in just four major titles.

Why he is considered a snub: Smith advanced in two majors he played this year. He also released two runner-ups on the DP World Tour this season
Why he was excluded from the team: Smith has never won since 2022. He has never played in the Ryder Cup team, either.
Harry Hall
The last European Ryder Cup team rankings: 17th
Why he is considered a snub: Hall has released 15 top 25 on the PGA Tour this season, and he qualifies for the Tour Championship. He hasn’t missed layoffs since the player championship. He also ranked fifth in the PGA Tour, finishing the total: SG: PUTTING second.
Why he was excluded from the team: Lack of experience – Hall has never played in the Ryder Cup team. He also ranked 112th in SG: from T-shirts, and 101th in SG: close to green.
Nicolai Hojgaard
The last European Ryder Cup team rankings: 18th
Why he is considered a snub: Hojgaard was a member of the team two years ago, and his brother Rasmus participated in this year’s team. He also tied for second place in Betfred’s Masters two weeks ago, with the Hojgaard brothers finishing second in the Zurich Classic in the sole team event of PGA Tour.
Why he was excluded from the team: He has never won again since 2023. He also ranked 146th in the PGA Tour this season, around the green.
Alex Noren
The last European Ryder Cup team rankings: 26th
Why he is considered a snub: Noren is the highest-ranked player in the official world golf rankings, playing on the 2018 team. He also won the Betfred Masters two weeks ago and played the final match in this year’s PGA Championship.
Why he was excluded from the team: Noren lost his stroke on the PGA Tour on T-shirts this year, close to green. He has never participated in the PGA Tour either.
Sergio Garcia
The last European Ryder Cup team rankings: Chapter 140
Why he is considered a snub: Garcia is the historical leader in Ryder Cup history. He also won this year’s LIV Golf Hong Kong Tournament.
Why he was excluded from the team: Garcia’s best result in three major appearances this year was ranked 34th in the Open Championship. He won the top ten in his last eight Liv golf tournaments.
