It’s been a long road to victory for Felix Auger-Aliassime but he captured the Fortis European Open in Paris in fine fashion on Sunday.

The 25-year-old Canadian defeated Jiri Lehecka 7-6(2), 6-7(6), 6-2 to firmly reignite her hopes of qualifying for the Nitto ATP Finals. Auger-Aliassime failed to convert two championship points in the second-set tiebreaker, but eventually regrouped and recorded a clinical victory.

With a victory that lasted 2 hours and 34 minutes, Auger-Aliassime jumped to ninth place at the PIF ATP Live Event in Turin, closing the gap on Lorenzo Musetti to 330 points as the season finale heats up. However, he hopes to get a chance at the European Indoor Swing.

The victory marked Auger-Aliassime’s eighth ATP Tour title – tied with Milos Raonic for the most Canadian men’s titles in the Open era – and his sixth on indoor hard courts. He has the most wins on indoor hard courts (76) since the start of the 2020 season, highlighted by consecutive wins at the Basel ATP 500.

In a service-heavy final in Brussels, Auger-Aliassime relied on his signature power and razor-sharp baseline to rally in the deciding set and improve to 2-1 in the Lexus ATP head-to-head series against Lehka.

Auger-Aliassim’s 2025 campaign is a roller coaster ride. A mid-season slump in form after championship wins with Adelaide and Montpellier raised questions. But he has looked rejuvenated since late summer – reaching the U.S. Open semifinals and Shanghai quarterfinals before claiming a second title at the ATP 250 in Belgium.

For Lehka, it was a familiar heartbreak on Belgian soil. The 23-year-old Czech lost the final in Antwerp last year, unable to capitalize on that big shot heading into the third set.
