Women’s Golf Association (WIGS) Wins ‘Best Initiative’ at Women’s Golf Awards – Golf News

The Women’s Golf Guild (WIGS), founded by Ali McGuirk of Prince’s Golf Club and Dolores Brown of Golf Breaks, was named ‘Best Initiative’ at the Women’s Golf Awards at Foxhills Golf Club in a category sponsored by PING.
The award recognizes the association’s growing influence in connecting and supporting women across the golf industry.
Created specifically for women working in golf or aspiring to enter the industry, WIGS uses golf as a welcoming social platform to help members start playing, return to competition, or simply find their place in the industry.
Promote women’s industry
Through a series of events, gatherings and online events, the association builds a community where women can share experiences, opportunities and stories while developing confidence on and off the pitch.
Since its inception, the Association has successfully hosted a range of golf social events, including events at major events such as the AIG Women’s Open, as well as parties at venues such as Prince’s Golf Club, Essendon Golf Club, The Grove, Frilford Heath and Foxhills Golf Club.
These sessions bring together women from across the industry at all stages of their careers, creating a welcoming space to connect through golf.
Many attendees continued to build relationships beyond the organization’s events, emphasizing the association’s role in fostering lasting professional networks and mentoring opportunities.
The community also helps introduce new players to the game in a comfortable environment, with some women picking up a club for the first time through association events.
lend a helping hand
Women in Golf encourages more women to explore careers in golf and provides support for those entering the industry by amplifying their presence through college podcasts and online speaking engagements.
A recent success story included an internship at a prestigious golf club in London, which was directly linked to the connections made through association activities.
The initiative’s international reach is also growing, with projects in partnership with LINKS Scotland and representation at the PGA Show underlining its commitment to the global solidarity of women’s golf.
The association plans to return to the PGA Show in January 2026.
“This award is a proud and meaningful milestone for everyone involved,” said Women’s Golf Association founder Ali McGuirk.
“We set up the association to create a space where women in the industry, and those looking to join the industry, can connect, feel supported and gain confidence through golf.
It is very special to receive the award for Best Initiative at Foxhills, with the support of PING. We’re excited to continue this momentum into 2026 and beyond. “
