The playoffs had an exciting start, with three of the four wildcard series lasting the entire three games, while seven of the 11 games were no more than three games. We saw a great defense in Chicago, offensive outbreaks in Los Angeles and a handful of great starts.

The best part is that we’re just getting started. Today, all four-department series begins, which means we have another marathon in front of us. First, we have a pair of enemies from the division, the Brewers and the Cubs scheduled for 2:08 pm ET, followed by blue jays and yankees in Toronto at 4:08 pm ET. In Game 3 of the day, Shohei Ohtani made her debut against the Phillies. However, before he picks up the mound, he will enter the left-handed batsman box at Citizen Bank Park at 6:38 PM EST. Then, in order to tie it up, the Mariners hosted the Tigers at 8:38 PM ET. As always, we will cover all the actions of Fangraphs.

Before we arrive at the mailbag for the week, I have a quick programming note to remind everyone. We will still be doing mailbags once a week during the playoffs, but we may move around on specific days depending on the playoff schedule. Our plan is to do one before every playoffs, like today. In addition, I would like to remind everyone that this mail bag is unique to Fangraphs members. If you don’t have a membership yet and want to continue reading, you can sign up for a membership here.
