Fangraphs Weekly Mail Bags: July 5, 2025

Hello Fangraphs members and readers. I hope all of you enjoy your holiday weekend in the United States. I spent most of the week on vacation, so I didn’t watch as many games as I always did. Still, I followed some moves from afar, enough to see Clayton Kershaw record his 3,000 strikeout, the Yankees stand out, and the All-Star starter was named.

This week’s mailbags are more common than before, when we answered your questions about the Rafael Devers trade and the impact of his contract, Jacob Misowelowski and perceived speed and the weirdness of the twins. Instead, today we will discuss how to watch baseball, players who were still able to pound in modern games in the past, and so on.

Before addressing all of these issues, I would like to remind everyone that while anyone can submit the issue, this mailbag is unique to Fangraphs members. If you don’t have a membership yet and want to continue reading, you can sign up for a membership here. This is the best way to experience the site again and support our staff and brings many other huge benefits. Also, if you want to ask a question to Mailbag for next week, please email me bag@fangraphs.com.
