Wimbledon 2025: Yulia Putintseva wants to evacuate ‘politics’ shout

Yulia Putintseva, the world’s No. 33, illuminates the security issues she raised during Wimbledon’s first failure, saying that a male audience “screamed” between her services, which was “political.”
The 30-year-old said: “People are acting too crazy about many things today,” and she hopes the referee “takes him out” from the crowd.
Early in the match against Amanda Anisimova on Monday, Putintseva described fans as “crazy” and “dangerous” and later warned the referee “maybe he has a knife.”
Asked about the incident after the doubles failed Wednesday, she told BBC Sport: “I said that because the guy said crazy things. I think those people might go crazy, maybe not. Maybe it’s just my point of view. But I’m just saying ‘just take him out’.”
She confirmed that she didn’t know the man.
She said to what she heard: “He is actually talking about political things. I’m really not outside politics, so I don’t want anyone to play, when they come to tennis, say what politics.”
After Putintseva expressed her concerns, the chairman referee spoke with security personnel, and a spokesman for the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) said the matter had been “handled.”
The club’s operations manager said safety protocols were followed.
The BBC understands the audience involved leaving his own court position.
When asked if she thought it had been properly processed, Putintseva said: “I just think people are acting too crazy about a lot of things today, and yes, I think it’s necessary to be safe.
“even [a] Ordinary people encounter some danger at some point. So, I think it’s important to have security. ”
