England pair wins Justin Rose Telegraph Championship – Golf News

Crump crowned champion at Justin Rose Junior Championship

England Women’s Golf star Lauren Crump has won the 2025 Justin Rose Telegraph Junior Golf Championship at Quinta do Lago, Portugal.

The 16-year-old shot 2 under (70) on day one and then 1 under (71) on day two to maintain the lead heading into the final day.

Despite an early bogey, Lauren eagled the par-5 No. 5 and had four consecutive birdies from the 14th to the 17th to win with a final-round 71 (-1), six strokes ahead of second-place Zoe McLean-Tattan.

The trophy is another title for Lauren, who won back-to-back British Women’s Championship and British Women’s County Championship titles in 2025.

Lauren said: “It’s an amazing way to end 2025. I’m really proud to win this award and it tops all my achievements this year. It’s the highlight of the year.

“I was still hesitant for most of the front nine, but I managed to bounce back on the back nine. After birdieing the 14th hole, I said to myself I wanted more, and knowing there was a par 5 and a couple of easier par 4s, I said we’ve got it!”

Meanwhile, England golf teammate Charlotte Naughton is third with a total score of +6, and youngster Daisy Lee of the England women’s team is fifth with a score of +11.

Champion Charlie back to back

Charlie Rusbridge, 17, has won back-to-back Justin Rose Telegraph Junior Golf Championships after a fantastic week at Quinta do Lago in Portugal.

Essex youngster Charlie won the event in 2024 and was back to his best this week, shooting 73, 70 and 69 in three rounds to win at 4 under.

The Colne Valley golfer held a four-stroke lead going into the final day and showed no signs of slowing down after four superb birdies on the front nine of the final round, paving the way for a three-shot victory over Scotland’s Cai Ryan.

Charlie said, “There’s a little more pressure this year! But it felt really cool to win. I was definitely caught up today. I missed a little putt on No. 2, and then when I scored on the tee on No. 4, I saw John [Doyle] At 4 to 5 under, we were even on the leaderboard, which I didn’t expect.

“But I’ve had three birdies in a row since then, which is cool, to be able to take it out of the bag when I need to. It’s nice to know I can do that! I just kept trying to do the same thing I’ve been doing all week and try not to force anything. I knew I was playing well and doing some good things, and it was nice to have it all happening at the same time.

“I said before this tournament that I wanted to be the first person to win three tournaments like this in a row, so it feels a little more realistic now. But now I’m just going to enjoy this win. It’s actually been a tough year for me. I won early in France but not much since then, so it’s more of a learning year for me – but it’s pretty cool to end the year like this.”

Elsewhere, England Golf Boys star Thomas Hartshorne (Teesside) is six strokes back in fourth, three ahead of England team-mates Ben Sessions (Bishop’s Stortford) and Rochester and Cobham’s Justin Chenu, who both finished joint fifth on +5.

Another England Boys youngster, Alex Boyes, finished seventh at +7.
