Emotional son Heung Min bid farewell to 7’2″ MMA legend

Son Heung Min’s final outing on Tottenham’s Tottenham shirt is filled with all the emotions you’d expect – but it also features lively moments that South Korea can only send.

The Spurs Legends played 65 minutes in a 1-1 draw at Newcastle United, marking the end of a shiny 10-year career in the pre-season friendly in Seoul. As he left the field, his son was given a touching guard of honor by both groups of players and moved significantly, wiping his tears in front of a worshiping family crowd.

The 33-year-old will now join MLS team Los Angeles Football Club after more than 450 appearances, numerous goals and long-awaited European trophy.

But before a serious farewell, surreal.

The day before the game, the son and his Spurs teammates were welcomed by culture in the Korean capital, where they met local celebrities and literal giants – Choi Hongman. The former MMA fighter, known as the “Korean Giant”, weighs 7’2″ and weighs 160 kg.

Naturally, he picked up that clumsy frame and shaky like a toddler, which made the striker’s entertainment big. Choi later played with other Spurs players, locking Pape Matar Sarr in a beating, and Richarlison was obviously shocked by his pure figure.

Choi was a staple for the 2000s K-1 and MMA scenes, famously fighting heavyweight idols Fedor Emelianenko and Mirko Cro Cop, and even lined up briefly to face Brock Lesnar before medical issues cancelled the match.

With his towering frame and wrestling background, you can imagine Choi Hong going by himself. He may not have the skills of his son, but at 7’2″ he will be unstoppable in the air – imagine trying to mark him in a corner.

Peter Crouch, eat your heart.
