Green’s explanation
Green also spoke to reporters after his win and told his story. “Grumpy, I just thought it was best to get out of there.” he said. He added that he didn’t think the situation would improve at that point, so it made the most sense to leave. Green also noted that he would have been willing to return, but it wasn’t up to him.
Green had nine points, seven rebounds and two assists in about 18 minutes before an incident ended his playing time. After his departure, the team’s form soared, leading Orlando by a big score and winning easily.
Why exchanges are important
Green and Cole have worked together for more than a decade, winning multiple championships. Still, the altercation marked another public display of tension by Green this season.
