Opening match: Hader, Severino, Dodgers, Padres, MLBTR Chat

MLBTR readers should pay attention to the following three things today:

1. AlWest damage update:

Astronauts are closer Josh Hard Unable to play last night, manager Joe Espada revealed after the game that the left-handed had taken care of some “discomfort” on his shoulders. Houston is now awaiting imaging results, with an update likely to be available later today. Needless to say, losing Hader is difficult to survive at any time. Hader leads all the odds of victory, which is a big reason why the Astronauts can stick to the Mariners’ lead in AL West, and it’s a game-leading advantage.

From a more positive perspective, the track and field manager Mark Coates Tell Jessica Kleinschmidt to the injured beginner Luis Severino Recently evaluated, the results are more promising than expected. When available, A will provide more information, probably later today. Severino landed on the IL on Saturday (dating back to August 6), but A is still waiting to determine the severity of the strain. Although A didn’t fight for the playoffs, they certainly hope to re-spin the highest-paid player as soon as possible. Severino may not have hoped for the 2025 season when he signed a three-year 67mm contract, but he still leads the start, situation, pitching and Fangraphs War.

2. Can the Padres catch the Dodgers?

The Dodgers have now lost two games in a row, while Paders has won three games in a row, leaving San Diego only at the top of the NL West. If Padres wins against the Giants tonight, and the Dodgers have a sixth straight game against the Angels (dating back to last season), then Padres will be number one in the division in a game against the Dodgers. The Dodgers have been ranked No. 1 since June 14 and have been ahead of Padres since April 27. San Diego’s AJ Cassavell hasn’t been close to Los Angeles’ All-Star break in 15 years. The Dodgers are still the 12th favorite to win NL West in the past 13 years, but after a positive trade deadline, the Padres made things interesting.

3. Today’s MLBTR chat:

The trade deadline is in the rearview mirror and the extension officially begins. There is no shortage of close games in the playoffs, and it’s too early to get offseason and what free agents and winter trade markets might bring. MLBTR’s Steve Adams will hold a live chat on CT this day at 1pm to discuss it all. You can click here to ask a question, once the chat starts, you can stream live after the chat is finished, or read the transcript after the chat is finished.
