Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards to return against Knicks

Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Anthony Edwards is set to return from a strained hamstring on Wednesday against the New York Knicks. ESPN’s Shams Charania first reported.

Edwards strained his hamstring three minutes into the Wolves’ third game of the season and has missed the past four games. In his absence, Minnesota defeated the Brooklyn Nets and Charlotte Hornets but lost to the Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets.

Edwards’ return came earlier than initially expected. He was initially told he would be re-evaluated in two weeks, but today’s return marks his full recovery in just over a week.

Julius Randle is the key to keeping the Wolves alive, averaging 26.0 points, 7.1 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game. The biggest surprise may have been Jaden McDaniels, who scored 25 points against the Nuggets and 30 points against the Lakers. Against the Nets, he scored 22 points in 29 minutes.

Mike Conley, who was replaced in the starting job by Donte DiVincenzo, took over for Edwards when he was injured. He may now return to the bench.

After seven games, the Wolves have a record of 4 wins and 3 losses, ranking seventh in the Western Conference.

Is Edwards ready for his best season yet?

Now that Edwards is healthy, we’ll see if he’s ready to pick up where he left off. He scored 41 points in the first game and then scored 31 points.

After entering the league, Edwards’ scoring average has increased every year. Last season, he averaged 27.6 points per game. Conley will also take on more ball-handling duties this season as he has transitioned to a backup role. Nickeil Alexander-Walker also left for the Atlanta Hawks this offseason.

We worked a lot on his post game this summer, and that’s probably where we’ll see Edwards’ biggest improvement this season.

Minnesota entered the season with lower expectations due to concerns about a lack of playmaking ability. Knowing Edwards, he’ll be determined to clear up all those doubts. Upon his return, there’s no better place to start than Madison Square Garden against the Knicks.
