Mbeumo Snubbed

Mikel Arteta and Arsenal players lost to Bournemouth at the Amirates Stadium

Charles Watts said Arsenal was not making right-wing wingers a priority this summer, but seemed willing to snap up free agent Leroy Sane.

In his latest exclusive Attracted by the side Watts’ column explains that this summer, the Gunners are never likely to spend £60m on people like Bryan Mbeumo.

Arsenal needs to complete too many other signings in this transfer window, so Mbeumo may not make good use of the funds.

However, Sane may make more sense because German International Corporation can add depth without eating in the transfer budget.

Sane relates to Christian Falk in a recent report Attracted by the sideWatts has confirmed the story.

Watts explained that Arsenal missed him while traveling to United at Mbeumo, explaining that the North London Giants’ thoughts explained.

“There are a lot of reactions from news from Arsenal fans to Bryan Mbeumo that looks to be joining United sometime this summer, and many think their club should have pushed for the Brentford winger,” Watts said.

“Argentina reportedly had an interest in Mbeumo, but things didn’t go any further, and I’m honestly not surprised.

“Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see Mbeumo at Arsenal, and he will undoubtedly improve Mikel Arteta’s offensive choices.

“But let’s face it, he’s mainly the right-wing winger and strengthening in this position is not a priority for this window.

Arsenal already has Bukayo Saka and Ethan Nwaneri

“They already have Bukayo Saka, who will play a lot, and then there is Ethan Nwaneri, and they have to keep looking for meaningful time to come after the breakthrough sports in 2024/25.

“It’s as good as seeing people like Mbeumo come in, and it’s not really a reality when Arsenal will have to invest heavily in other areas of the attack.

“I do think there is an argument that puts forward another right-hand option, but the priority has to be to make a name for itself on the opposite side and complement the long-awaited new forward.

“These two additions will cost a lot of money and when you add up the £51m fee for Martin Zubimendi, it already adds up a lot of Arsenal’s spending in the transfer window.

“So it doesn’t seem realistic to spend £60m on the right wing, as good as it is.

“Maybe that’s why exploratory negotiations with Leroy Sane’s agent are held, and if he doesn’t agree to the extension with Bayern Munich, the German winger will get it for free.”
